I'm a Surprise & Christmas Eve

My brother flew me home for Christmas to surprise my parents and nieces.

I had to make up a story about going to Whistler for Christmas to throw them off the track.

After 13 hours of travel I was finally at my parent's house. The house I did my growing up in.

Actually I was laying in my brothers truck using my nieces booster seat as a pillow trying my hardest to stay awake and not pee my pants while I waited for my mom and dad to make an appearance.

Let's just say I eventually took care of my personal issues AND surprised my parents.

Christmas Eve was a hoot.

Here are the highlights.

(My mom had to work. That's why she is nowhere to be seen)

 We made oatmeal cookies, snickerdoodles, shortbread, and sugar cookies ALL day.

We also frosted them. That's my dad with frosting on his nose.

He's the biggest goofball in the house.

 Mackenzie & Kennedy. The next biggest goofballs.

Our fancy lace tablecloth with all of our beautiful & perfectly round cookies.

 Our juice experiment. Veggie juice got a thumbs down. Fruit however was loved.

My hairs' feelings got hurt from being teased so much.

I was appalled.

The Cutest Autumn Wreaths of My Life & Yours!

Whit & I got together to make autumn wreaths...she originally brought the idea up when we had our soup day. Yay to both of us being free on a Saturday afternoon. We watched the fabric rosette making tutorial on pinterest & went to work cutting fabric we already had into strips. Quin helped. Of course. 

We thought we made too many rosettes, but I think we had 2 leftover. 

Here is a tip: hot glue from a hot glue gun is hot. We burnt our fingers a lot, but I feel it was fully worth it. 

Lace. An item you should always have on hand. We cut strips from an old tablecloth and wrapped it around the wreath. 

We then braided a strip of lace, orange fabric, and burlap for the hanger. We just tied a knot on each end & jammed the knot in between twigs. 

AND...TADA...beautiful autumn wreaths. 

First Fall Day

Today I woke up to fall, so I lit a pumpkin candle, made a cup of coffee, turned on friends, and looked for projects. Project #1...revamping my room. I changed my pillowcases (bought at Value Village) & framed scrapbook paper in FREE frames I found a couple weeks ago. Outcome- a SIMPLE change in scenery that I'm quite happy about and for under $10!!!! Project #2...wrapping gifts for an upcoming baby shower & birthday party. I used modern tissue paper, vintage lace (from an estate sale), and ribbon from my collection. I like the softened modern outcome. I'm a little sad my hard work will be ripped off, but they will look cute among the other gifts. This project (not including the actual gift) was FREE! My favorite :)

 

Project #3 was a surprise. Heather, my nanny mom texted me to tell me she bought me a roast to cook. When I went to pick it up (they live just around the corner) she included the wine & a quick walk through on what to do. So, tonight everyone in my home will be enjoying a wonderful slow-cooked roast. What better meal for a fall day!?!? Here is a picture of everything before...look for the after picture.
